It’s the end of the month, so your SNAP has been spent and you’re dwindled down to a few items left over from that trip to the food bank you can only visit twice a year. This moment calls for salt soup!
Ingredients:
Water & Iodized Salt (or preferably your own salty tears you’ve been saving up for this very moment).
Instructions:
1. Put a pot of water on the stove, but don’t turn on the burner. You haven’t been able to pay the electric bill this month and the power could be cut at any moment.
2. Cry into the pot. Really let the tears flow. Get guttural and let loose your pent up frustration in the form of deep and projective sobs. Make the neighbors wonder if you’re okay.
3. Now you have salt soup! Eating it might make you depressed and you probably dropped a few snot globs in there too, so just dump it down the drain along with your hopes and dreams. Next month will be better!

This recipe was inspired by The Barge Captain, a character from the Netflix series Disenchantment.
